Position: Personal Lines Insurance Account Manager I

A Personal Lines Account Manager is responsible for retaining and developing current Agency personal lines clients.

The Personal Lines Account Manager is the person most likely to have direct, substantive contact with Personal Lines clients of the Agency. The Personal Lines Account Manager is intended to meet most of the routine needs of Personal Lines clients, such as providing policy documentation, performing policy changes and assisting with payment issues. The Personal Lines Account Manager is also responsible for initiating contact with clients on topics of import as defined by the Agency. Such topics could include welcoming new clients to the Agency, informing clients of coverages, services, and credits not being enjoyed by the client, obtaining information needed to update Agency and insurance company records, and generally maintaining a positive and constructive relationship with clients.

Clients of the Agency can be demanding or upset. The Personal Lines Account Manager must have the ability to work positively and empathically with clients in all states of mind, effectively providing the needed service, and strive to leave all clients with good feelings about their dealings with the Agency.

As Personal Lines is essentially a paperless operation within the Agency, the Personal Lines Account Manager must be proficient in the use of the computer, a proficient typist, well-versed with email, word processing, and the use of websites and other software to obtain information and perform services. The Agency has extensive procedures regarding how services are delivered and how communications are documented, and the Personal Lines Account Manager must be able to master all such procedures and tools.

Description:

Primary duties of this entry-level position are the accurate and timely transmission of client insurance information to insurance companies, and the updating of client information in the Agency computer systems. Data and information is captured on standardized forms by customer service staff and agents, and provided to the processing team for data entry via insurance company web sites. Reports and other documents are retrieved from insurance company websites, or received by email/fax/postal mail, and are used to update Agency computer systems.

Other duties include welcome customers by greeting them on the telephone or in person, directing them to the appropriate staff via the agency’s telephone system, and receipting and documenting insurance payments. and mail room back-up.

Training is provided.
