Independence Township has many amenities for families to enjoy during the summer. If gas and food prices have you watching your budget and force you to stay home this summer, you won’t be disappointed by the number of things you can do right here in or near Independence Township.
Right here in Independence we have beautiful parks to enjoy. Clintonwood Park provides a wide variety of things to enjoy such as: a fitness course, volleyball, basketball, soccer, baseball, kite flying, or just taking a walk through the woods. Bay Court Park is another busy park that has a disc golf course, playground, beach, and pavilions for rent. Sashabaw Plains has baseball fields, playground, pavilion, and a basketball court. Deer Lake Beach is a very popular beach with a public boat launch. Looking for peace and quiet outdoors? Volunteer time in the Community Garden at McCord Park. All of these will save you money and still provide your family with special time spent together.
The Palace of Auburn Hills has a wide variety of events and the Chrysler Tech Center has a fascinating museum to view the history of their automobiles. The Tigers also are close enough to spend a day Comerica Park and if you like wildlife, try the Detroit Zoo. Looking to cool off? Purchase discount tickets for the Waterford Wave Pool. All have many family bonding elements that will not only bring your family closer, it will save you money by staying home and enjoying things in our area.
When sitting down to plan out your summer, vote for a ‘staycation’. Just think, minimal money spent on gas, less chance to get a speeding ticket, no traffic jams and fun together with your family enjoying things right here in Independence or the immediate area.
