As my first contribution
to the President’s Corner I’d like to share with you my comments from this
year’s Annual Meeting held September 15, 2011.
Good evening. My name is
Donna Bullard and I am the President/CEO of CBCCU.
I am honored to be allowed
to serve as your Chamber President for the upcoming 2011-2012 year.
When I was asked to serve
as your President I must admit that I was a bit nervous. As a lot of us do, I
looked back at the past and all the strong presidents that served before me.
Many of them are here tonight. When I looked back I saw each displayed common

Clarkston Brandon Community Credit Union in conjunction with other Michigan Credit Unions, is collecting old cell phones to raise funds to provide free calling for our troops overseas. If you have old phones you no longer use or want, to please drop them at the Credit Union office or drop them off at the Chamber and we'll take care of it! |

A Year on the River
Sunday, October 16th, 2-3pm
Based on the changing seasons of river life, the photographs and poems of the newly-released book A Year on the River represent a year-long project of Detroit photographer Joe Crachiola who lived on his sailboat on the Detroit River, and Clarkston Poet Bob McGowen. Join us for this poetry reading, book signing and story behind the creation of this magical book.

EDUCATIONWith the start of a new school year, so begins some of the unpleasant experiences about attending school, such as bullying. In an effort to educate students and parents alike, Sherriff Michael Bouchard will be speaking on bullying relative to on-line and in the classroom types of situations. “Bullying has become more prevalent among our youth both in school and via social networks. With this issue at the forefront of parents, students and educators, The Clarkston Coalition feels it is critical to promote child safety and arm our community with ways to deal with and prevent bullying.” , says Rebecca McGovern, Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending for Clarkston State Bank, Clarkston Coalition for Youth President.
The presentation will be hosted by the Clarkston Coalition for Youth, on Thursday, October 20, 2011 from 7-9pm in the Clarkston High School’s Performing Arts Center (PAC). Clarkston High School is located at 6093 Flemings Lake Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346. The presentation is free, but an RSVP is requested if possible to info@clarkstonyouth.org. Refreshments will be provided.

FAMILY The 2011 Friendly Forest is just around the corner! Hosted by Independence Twp Parks and Recreation in partnership with the Clarkston Area Optimist Club. Tickets go on sale September 21st at the Parks and
Recreation office, 6483 Waldon Center Dr. in Clarkston. The Friendly Forest will take place on Saturday,
October 22 from 3:00-6:00 pm at Clintonwood Park. Kids ages 2-9 can walk the enchanted trail with their
parents and collect goodies from their favorite cartoon and fairy tale characters! Don’t forget to wear your
