Chamber President
Bill Burr
All Saints Cemetery |
Thoughts from your President:Summertime and the living is easy. Your Chamber has been busy. Concerts in the Park had a great run, with record attendance each week, which meant tremendous Ice Cream sales. Though many travel this time of year our attendance at BOB’s has been outstanding. Having a great summer is the Challenge Cup, if you follow its exploits on Facebook you will know that it has been all over the Detroit area. From all appearances it is having a better time than me.
Work is underway for a new Beer University, the chair women have some awesome plans, stay tuned for more info. Taste of Clarkston our major fundraiser is coming up on Sunday, September 25th we will need plenty of volunteers. Also, there are exhibit opportunities for you business. Finally, the 25th Anniversary of Expo is coming on Thursday, November 10th. This promises to be a grand event showcasing the Best of the Best businesses of the Clarkston area.
Soon I will take a little vacation and some time with my wife. We all need time away from the grind to refocus ourselves and I intend on doing just that.
See you at the next event. Continue to prosper!

Lourdes Senior Community, located in Waterford, Michigan is home to almost 250 seniors in four levels of living; independent apartments called Fox Manor on the Lake, Mendelson Assisted Living, Clausen Manor, Memory Care facility and Lourdes Nursing Home offering both short-term rehab and long term care. Perfect Surveys and Best of the Best!!
Lourdes Senior Community is very proud to announce they have had a year of zero deficiency inspections in each living facility. Additionally, in May Lourdes Senior Community was chosen Best of the Best in retirement living by the readers of the Oakland Press for the fourth year in a row.
Lourdes Nursing Home received perfect results on July 8, 2011 from their annual state survey. After a weeklong survey, Lourdes Nursing Home was found to be in complete compliance with Federal participation requirements for nursing homes participating in the Medicare and/or Medicaid programs. Each year nursing homes throughout Michigan undergo an extensive survey conducted by the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (DLRA)to determine compliance with Federal requirements. This survey process involves a thorough inspection of the nursing department as well as other departments including housekeeping, dietary, activities and social services. The 429 nursing homes licensed in Michigan receive an average of seven deficiencies following a state survey. Fewer than one percent of Michigan nursing homes receive a perfect survey each year
This is the third time within nine years that Lourdes Nursing Home received zero deficiencies from the survey results. "This annual survey reflects the accomplishments of the past year and a zero deficiency nursing home survey demonstrates our staff commitment to the core values Lourdes embodies; dignity, service, spirituality and compassion,” stated Shela Myrick, Lourdes Nursing Home Administrator
According to Debra Wooten, a certified nursing assistant at Lourdes for more than twelve years, "It is an honor and my responsibility to have a positive impact on the lives of our residents”.
Mendelson Assisted Living and Clausen Manor, Lourdes’ assisted living and memory care facilities received perfect survey results in their most recent surveys, also. Cori Sharrard, Director of both facilities, believes much of the success is because the staff “…consistently goes above and beyond for the benefit of the people who have chosen to live here. The staff makes all the difference.”
