All Saints Cemetery

Thoughts from your President:

The summer is getting off to a great start.  We had a wonderful Challenge Cup Golf Outing with 112 golfers and it raised more money to support the Chamber than in the past few years.  This shows our members support our activities strongly.  Also, Concerts in the Park have started with success with Ice Cream sales especially at the first concert hitting goalJ

The Chamber doesn’t sleep during the summer it continues to plan for the future.  Coming soon you will be seeing invitations to Beer University.  The new and improved committee has some outstanding ideas to make this event not only fun but a brand that will carry us forward.

Our staff continues to go strong working on new members and sponsorships for future events.  One of those events is the Taste of Clarkston coming up on Sunday, September 25th, mark your calendars and remember volunteers will be needed.

Continue to have a nice summer, relax and enjoy.  Don’t forget to watch online for Chamber News especially Ribbon Cuttings those new businesses really appreciate our support.

See you at the next event.  Continue to prosper!

Bill Burr

CLARKSTON NATIVE RETURNS TO BRIGHTEN THE SMILES

OF YOUR PETS!

Dr. Bolten and her dog Hudson

Clarkston – June 9, 2011 – There’s a new doctor in town and although you can’t see her face behind the surgical mask, her name should ring familiar to the local area.  Dr. Casey Bolten has completed her studies and has come back home to Clarkston to work with the team at Advanced PetCare of Oakland.  Dr. Bolten is eager and anxious to help all of Clarkston’s pet owners learn more about their pets’ health, especially proper dental care.

“I am thrilled to be coming back home to Clarkston,” says Dr. Bolten.  “From my high school activities to my involvement with our church youth group, I think I left a big part of me here and it sure feels good to be home!”

After pursuing her studies at both Miami University and Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Bolten knew that she wanted to come back to Clarkston and follow the family passion for dentistry- but this time with four legged patients!  “Many people around here may have seen my dad or grandfather for their dental check-ups.  In vet school it became clear to me that this was a field in which I could excel in the veterinary world as well, so I arranged to spend over 2 months studying with some of the top veterinary dentists in the world.  I really want to make an impact on the lives of pets and the lives of their owners.  Since dental disease is the most common diagnosis in adult dogs and cats and is 100% preventable, I know that through client education and routine dental care, I can make a difference.”

Dr. Bolten’s new boss, Dr. Bryan Cornwall of Advanced PetCare of Oakland agrees.  “More than 80% of our patients over the age of three have some sort of dental problems,” Dr. Cornwall says, “and you can’t tell by just looking because so much of the tooth is hidden below the gumline.  Just like people, pets need regular dental exams and routine care at home with their owners.  We are excited to have Dr. Bolten join us because it will help us provide a continued high level of care for our patients.”

Both Dr. Bolten and Dr. Cornwall remind pet owners that dental disease can have a significant impact on a pet’s health and well-being.  Lack of dental care can lead to bad breath and fractured or diseased teeth as well as heart, liver and lung problems.  Good dental hygiene can add two to four years to a pet’s life, which, in turn, will add life to your years as well!

Drs. Greg and Becky Ramboer receive Certification Credentials

From ICA Wellness Science Council

Doctors Greg and Becky Ramboer, of Clarkston, MI, earned the prestigious status of Certified Chiropractic Wellness Practitioner (C.C.W.P.), two of the first doctors to successfully complete this comprehensive postgraduate educational program.  The doctors were awarded the C.C.W.P. status by the International Chiropractor’s Association’s Council on Wellness Science, having successfully passed a comprehensive final exam following completion of the program’s course work and other requirements.

The wellness certification program offers an extensive post-graduate curriculum of pertinent wellness research, patient care approaches and methods to maximize the clinical effectiveness of chiropractic care in a new wellness paradigm.  The program includes evidence-based information in nutrition and natural health, wellness-directed physical fitness and spinal hygiene, and state of mind and emotional health, as well as effective insights for generating and supporting patient lifestyle changes.  Doctors also learn advanced approaches to patient wellness assessment, clinical case management strategies for optimal wellness, and recent research findings on clinically relevant lifestyle choices.

“The C.C.W.P. Certification gives practitioners practical research and science-based data in a growing field that is increasingly relevant because it addresses important health issues,” says ICA President, Gary L. Walsemann, D.C., “Those who complete the curriculum build an intensified understanding of scientific principles.  They are also uniquely equipped to fill an important lifestyle and public health gap in their communities by becoming a sound, authoritative source of evidence-based wellness living strategies.”

“This C.C.W.P. credential recognizes the doctor’s accomplishments in successfully completing the demanding course work and examination process for this special credential designation,” notes Dr. James Chestnut, who developed the certification program curriculum.  “The integral connection between wellness science and the natural and powerful contribution chiropractic care can make to the life and health of every patient are powerful mechanisms for the enhancement of the quality of life for all individuals.”

Gregory and Rebecca Ramboer, D.C., C.C.W.P. are graduates of Logan College of Chiropractic, are active members of the ICA’s Council on Wellness Science and are celebrating 10 years in practice at 5896 Dixie Hwy, Ste A in Clarkston, MI.

On Aug. 20, 2011 at Clarkston Jr. High, the doctors will be sharing their knowledge with our community about these important lifestyle and wellness living strategies.  This workshop is a part of a series and will discuss the connection between the mind and the body, and how to effectively create emotional wellness in your life.  “Emotional health is a huge part of our overall wellbeing and should be focused on just as much, if not more, than other aspects of wellness required for health, such as nutrition and exercise,” says Dr. Ramboer.  “We are so excited to offer this incredible life-changing program to the public in a way that is easy to understand and implement.  These strategies are unique and effective based on science and human behavior principles and are not available anywhere else.  This workshop is one you don’t want to miss!”
