Clarkston Chamber Challenge Cup

                            A new golf outing format

It’s the 24th Annual Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce will host their 24th Annual golf outing on Monday June 13 at Fountains Golf & Banquet.  But this tournament will look quite different than any other.

It’s a Ryder Cup format The Clarkston Chamber Challenge Cup will provide everyone the experience of playing in what looks and feels like a Ryder Cup.

Your team will be up to 18 golfers! Foursomes accustomed to playing in a scramble will remain as teammates, but will be combined with other golfers to comprise a team of up to 18—(depending on the final sign up count).

Teams will receive colored shirts to wear at the outing Teams will be identified by wearing uniform colored team shirts.  Businesses, public services, non-profit organizations and service clubs and form their own team by recruiting up to 18 golfers.  Individual golfers, 2-somes and 4-somes can sign up and will be assigned a Challenge Cup Team.

2-person Scramble format  Golfers will play a 2-person scramble in matches against two-somes from other teams.  After 9 holes—your 2-some will be matched with new 2-some and play the next 9 holes together.

You’ll be playing for match points Each match will be 9-holes of “head to head” competition.  The goal is to win the match and contribute a point in the team’s quest to win the Cup.

Competitive but fair—every golfer has a chance   All matches are competitively balanced pairing opponents of similar skill against each other.  If that is not possible, a handicap system of giving strokes and/or starting ahead or behind in the match creates fair competition for everyone.

LIVE scoreboards on the course  Several scoreboards featuring every golfer’s name and the results of all matches and team standings will be kept LIVE on the course.  These scoreboards will be updated continually throughout the event so you’ll always know where your team stands.

The Golf Program is now a “Face Book”  A tournament program picturing all the golfers—along with a personal bio is sure to add a professional touch as well.

Your name could be engraved on the travelling trophy! The names of the winning team members will be engraved annually—just like on the Stanley Cup.

OUR GOAL:  The goal of changing the format and focus of the golf outing is to create an event that increases the fun, networking and friendly competition of the Chamber’s Golf Classic.

This isn’t like the other golf outings you’re invited to every summer and ONLY the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce will be offering the Challenge Cup format in the Clarkston Area.

SILENT AUCTION This event will also include a Silent Auction during the strolling dinner and awards celebration following the golf classic.  You do not need to be a chamber member (or attending the outing) to donate an item for the silent auction.

Do you need to have a partner or a 4-some to sign up?

You do not need to have a partner or a 4-some in order to sign up for this event.  We can match you into a team.

Will my 4-some get to golf together?

Be aware that you will be golfing with 1 other person from your 4-some but your entire 4-some will be part of your color team.  They may be golfing on different starting hole.

What if I’m not a very good golfer? 

The Challenge Cup is perfect for beginning, practiced and serious golfers.  Golfers will be matched based on ability.
